Actress Sunshine Cruz revealed for the very first time that she was the one who initiated the breakup with Macky Mathay, during her recent interview with Karen Davila's YouTube Channel.

The ex-couple began dating in 2012, and from then on, Sunshine and Macky have been open about their relationship in public.

While describing Mathay as a "good guy," Sunshine explained why she decided to end their relationship.

“Five days bago mag-sixth anniversary kami, nakipaghiwalay ako sa kaniya. Naka lock-in taping pa noon. Through message, I said na, ‘I don’t think may patutunguhan pa itong relationship,'” said Sunshine.

Being a couple for five years, Sunshine and Macky made their blended family work. She emphasized how wonderful Macky is and he genuinely cares for her three daughters, Angelina, Sam, and Angel.

However, Sunshine stressed her desire for a relationship that actually progresses.

"Don’t get me wrong. He’s a good guy. I love his children. Pero siyempre at this point in my life, I am 45, siyempre naghahanap na tayo ng relationship na kahit papaano ay lume-level up. Hindi yung diretso. Kasi magsi-six years na pero parang diretso lang kami,” she said.

(Don't get me wrong. He's a good guy. I love his children. But of course at this point in my life, I am 45, of course we are looking for a relationship that will somehow level up. Not the direct one. Because it's been six years but we seem to be straight)

During the interview, she also mentioned that she is not open to remarrying.

"Sa totoo lang, ayaw ko naman na. I am okay na life partner na lang. Pero yung pagpapakasal, sa ngayon, hindi ko naiisip. Maybe when I turn 60 or 70, parang si Tita Boots Anson-Roa, who knows ‘di ba? Kung ibibigay ni Lord. Pero hindi natin pwede ipilit. If it’s not really for you, it’s not for you," she said.

(Honestly, I don't want to. I am okay with being a life partner. But marriage, right now, I can't think about it. Maybe when I turn 60 or 70, I'll be like Tita Boots Anson-Roa; who knows, right? If the Lord gives it. But we can't force it. If it's not really for you, it's not for you)
