K-pop boy band The Boyz created a festive atmosphere with Filipino fans at their world tour in Manila.
Members Sangyeon, Juyeon, Kevin, Younghoon, Ju Haknyeon, Jacob, Eric, Sunwoo, Hyunjae, New and Q held their “2nd World Tour: Zeneration in Manila” on July 15 at Araneta Coliseum.

After four years, The Boyz returned to Manila for their own show. In June 2019, they held their Asia Fan-Con Tour “The Castle” in Manila at the New Frontier Theater.
This was their fourth visit to the country following their performance last April in a show together with other artists at the Araneta Coliseum. Their first visit in Manila was in October 2018 when they performed during the Korean TV music show “Show Champion.”
‘Zeneration’
The Boyz opened their “Zeneration” set with four consecutive numbers: “Ego,” “Reveal,” “Awake” and “Roar.” The first two are from the group’s first studio album “Reveal” while the last two songs are from their 2023 mini-album “Be Awake.”
This was followed by the pre-debut song “I’m Your Boy,” and “Text Me Back,” “KeePer” and “Only One.”
One by one, The Boyz introduced themselves and greeted the crowd.
“Ako si Eric, ang inyong boyfriend (I am Eric, your boyfriend),” said Eric Sohn, the youngest member of the group.
Kevin Moon quipped, “Ang ganda beshie ko (My best friend is beautiful). We’re so excited to be here. It’s been a long time, right? Nagagalak ako na makita kayong muli (I’m glad to see you all again).”
Leader Sangyeon said, “Philippine The B [fandom] maganda (Philippine The Bs are beautiful). Natutuwa ako nandito [kayo] (I’m happy that you are here).”
“It’s been a while since we came here,” said Sunwoo while Juyeon said, “Namiss ko kayo (I missed you).”
Younghoon said, “Mahal kita (I love you)” and Hyunjae told the audience, “Let’s have fun tonight.”

Fun talk
While waiting for others to change their costume, seven members talked about Manila and appreciation of Filipinos’ fan projects around the venue.
Kevin was particularly frustrated when he could not get an Iced Capp, a blended coffee drink from a Canadian coffee chain, in Manila.
“As a Canadian, I was looking forward to getting my Iced Capp in Manila. Why is it every time I come, the machine is broken or they are sold out. If we’re here for a show, I’ll bring Icep Capp,” he said.
About favorite Filipino food, Jacob said, “I’ve had the adobo. I’ve had it a few times in Korea but I didn’t get to try it here.” For Sangyeon, it’s dried mangoes (“Very, very delicious”).
“I’ve lots of Filipino friends in Canada. The one food that I would always enjoy is longganisa (sausage),” said Kevin.
For Ju Haknyeon, he said he wants to go to Cebu to swim.
According to Sangyeon, “What I always feel about Manila The Bs is that their energy is really great,” referring to the screams and loud cheers of Filipino fans during concerts.
Kevin thanked Pinoy fans for the support, “We saw the amount of effort you put into the fan support: the lampposts, the photo booths. Thank you.”

The Boyz also performed “Whisper,” “Water,” Thrill Ride,” “D.D.D,” “Lucid Dream,” “Daydream,” “Butterfly,” “Wings,” “Nightmares,” “Russian Roulette,” “Insanity,” “Maverick,” “Spring Snow,” Horizon” and “Timeless.”
As they wrapped up the concert, the members expressed their appreciation for the fans who went to the show and talked about their comeback in August.
“Thank you so much to The Bs who became the horizon on my side. I really had a great time,” said New.
Jacob said, “Thank you so much for coming tonight. From start to finish, you guys have been an amazing energy. It’s been a long time since my ears have hurt from the screaming. We will be back.”

“It’s been a while since I saw you guys. I was too hyped. I’ll come back really, really soon,” according to Ju Haknyeon.
Q said, “Your energy gives us power to move and dance with you guys. Thank you so much for having a good time. We promise to come back really soon.”
“Four years ago we came here for our concert and we could not visit you guys again. I really want to say to our Filipino The Bs, thank you so much. I promise we will be coming back more frequently,” said Hyunjae.
Younghoon said, “I really had such a happy moment today. I think the biggest happiness for me is, of course, The Bs. And we’re having our comeback in August.”
Juyeon said, “I don’t know when we will meet again but we will try our best to come back really soon.”
“I’m sorry that I took us a while to come back (to the Philippines) and I missed you guys so much. Thank you so much for enjoying the show with us,” said Sunwoo.
Sangyeon said, “My Philippine The Bs are amazing. Natutuwa akong makilala kayo. Nandito ako para makita ka (I’m happy to know you. I’m here to see you). I’m so happy today for you guys. I think the Philippines always gives me good memories. We’ll be coming soon with our comeback in August so please expect a lot from us and please cheer for us, okay?”
“Mami-miss ko kayo (I’ll miss you). Every time we come to the Philippines, you have an unmatched energy and I cannot get enough of it. Thank you guys so, so much for making time for us today and we promise we will be back,” said Kevin.

Eric said, “Your energy, all that, beats me. Whoa! Shout out to you guys. Congrats. Personally, my hardest time was last year when I took a break. But that’s the past, now is now. I can’t be any happier. That right now, just be on this stage. I really wanna be back as soon as possible. Early August, The Boyz come back. I’m sure you guys will love it. Look forward to it.” In March last year, Erick took a long break from The Boyz due to health issues and went back to the US.
