An alleged vintage mortar was found outside a food hall in Barangay Loyola Heights, Quezon City on Thursday afternoon, July 6.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Anonas Station (PS 9) said the explosive device was discovered by Rodel Guatno, 45, a service crew  at Pop Up, a dining venue for different food kiosks on Katipunan Avenue.Â
Initial investigation disclosed that the service crew was cleaning in the area at around 5 p.m. on Thursday, when he discovered the vintage mortar placed near chairs and tables outside an oyster bar restaurant at Pop Up.Â
He immediately turned over the alleged bomb to a duty security guard in the area who reported the incident to the PS 9.
The security guard turned over the vintage mortar to responding police officers from the QCPD District Explosive Ordinance Disposal and Canine Unite (DECU) who took the explosive device for safekeeping.Â
The police also conducted a search in the area to ensure the safety of its customers. The customers of the kiosks were temporarily evacuated during the operation.
Police said that no other threats were found in the area.
The incident is still under investigation.
