Calapan City restaurant blast leaves 15 injured, 12 cars damaged
At least 14 people were injured and 12 vehicles were damaged after an explosion ripped through a restaurant in a mall in Calapan City on Thursday morning, June 29.
Police Brig. Gen. Joel B. Doria, director of the Police Regional Office 4B, said the incident occurred at the Mr. Won’s Samgyeopsal Korean Restaurant at the Xentro Mall in Barangay Lumangbayan at around 10:30 a.m.
He said the blast resulted in the wounding of four restaurant staff, a delivery man, and 10 other people, adding that 12 vehicles were also damaged.
Doria, however, assured that immediate police response was conducted in coordination with other local agencies, particularly the Bureau of Fire Protection and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
He said an Incident Command Post (ICP)was immediately established after the incident.
“In light of this unfortunate event, we would like to assure the public that utmost efforts are being made to ensure their safety and well-being. Our law enforcement personnel are working closely with the BFP to gather all necessary evidence and information to facilitate a thorough investigation,” said Doria.
“We understand the concerns and anxieties of the community, and we want to emphasize that the situation is being given the highest priority,” he added.
Investigation is still being conducted to determine the cause of the blast.
