Due to high market demand for digital services, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) Philippines is expanding its capacity by a total 5.2MW in the third quarter of 2023, the company announced Tuesday, June 20.
The company is a joint venture between Globe, Ayala Corporation and Singapore-based ST Telemedia Global Data Centres.
The expansion of its three existing data centers in Makati, Cavite and Quezon City will exceed the capacity of most single data centers locally and is designed to serve near-term capacity needs.
"This expansion is part of our growth strategy to support the country’s digital infrastructure build,” says Carlo Malana, President and CEO of STT GDC Philippines.
The company also plans to scale operations to cater to global hyperscalers and other customer segments via greenfield builds, creating more job opportunities for those in engineering, facilities and energy management.
STT GDC Philippines currently operates five data centers with a total IT capacity of 22MW.
Significantly, more than 95 percent of its power come from renewable energy sources, aligned with Globe, STT GDC, and the Ayala Group’s sustainability commitment.
The company aims to build sustainable and energy-efficient data centers by integrating sustainability principles in its value chain and operations.
Its target is to operate a total of over 150MW of IT capacity in the coming years.
Last month, the company announced its newest data center campus, STT Fairview, the largest and most interconnected, sustainable, carrier-neutral data center campus with an IT capacity of 124MW and the initial phase of operations planned for early 2025
