Returning home to the Philippines for his new stand-up "Later That Evening," Fil-am comedian JR De Guzman previously brought his sold-out shows in Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, and Indonesia. But despite getting recognition from different sides of the country, there's one thing JR cannot run from, and that is the Pinoy titas. During his online media conference on May 2, the 32-year-old Fil-Am comedian opened up his funny stories whenever he encounters a pinoy tita after his set. "After shows, I'll always have these titas will come and try to set me up with their daughters, and then after I say that I have a girlfriend, they will keep on going and say 'Oh that's okay," JR mentioned. After sharing the story, JR jokingly said, "That's how you know you made it," he also compared that the Pinoy titas are the best fans the in the world. Growing up in a Pinoy household, JR shared that it was hard at first when his parents discovered he pursued his career in stand-up comedy. "They were a bit hesitant at first but now, they are very excited and supportive especially my dad. To be honest, people are more excited to see my dad on the show," JR said. Making his way in stand-up comedy for almost 12 years, JR has several awards, including 'Stand-Up NBC' competition in 2016, and he was also named the "New Face" in "Just for Laughs" in 2017. He was also part of the select group of up-and-coming comedians who had 15-minute sets in the 2018 Netflix special "The Comedy Lineup." Named one of Variety’s 10 Comics to Watch in 2022, JR is set to serenade audiences with his songs and amuse them with stories at The Theatre at Solaire on Saturday, June 3, at 7 pm. He will also be joined by Ryan Puno and Red Ollero for the opening act.
