Security guard, two cohorts nabbed after robbing gas station, killing one in Bohol
CEBU CITY – Three persons who were accused of robbing a gas station and killing a security guard in Ubay town, Bohol were arrested during a hot pursuit operation in Brgy. Guinacot, Guindulman town on Wednesday afternoon, April 19.
Arrested were Florencio Pelonia, 54, Rogelio Edisa, 27, and Jerry Ofamin, 37, who were all identified as the ones who allegedly robbed Sailors Oil gas station in Barangay San Pascual, Ubay on Monday, April 17. The gas station’s security guard was killed in the incident, police said.
Police said Pelonia was the driver of the get-away motorcycle, while Edisa was the alleged gunman.
Lt. Col. Joemar Pomarejos, chief of the Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Bohol Police Provincial Office, said a .45 caliber pistol loaded with four bullets, P15,500 cash, and a motorcycle were seized from Pelonia.
Another .45 caliber pistol with five bullets was recovered from Edisa along with P10,243 cash and a gray motorcycle.
Another motorcycle was confiscated from Ofamin, police said.
Pomarejos said a witness was able to identify Pelonia as one of the suspects.
Pomarejos added that Pelonia is an active security guard assigned in one of the branches of Sailors Oil gasoline station.
Pomarejos said Pelonia was a trusted worker of the owner of the company.
Investigation showed that the suspects were familiar with the gas station’s collection schedule throughout Bohol.
Charges for robbery with homicide will be filed against the three suspects, police said.
