Dentist is PH bet to Miss Supermodel Worldwide

Shyrla Nuñez, a 25-year-old dentist from Caloocan City, hopes to duplicate the Philippines' win in the Miss Supermodel Worldwide pageant which will have its grand coronation night tonight (Saturday)  in New Delhi, India. The current title holder is Alexandra Mae Rosales of Laguna. Nuñez, who takes pride in being a morena, admitted that there's some pressure in replicating a win of Alexandra. "I was intimidated at first because back-to-back winning is very rare in pageantry but I think that it's best to focus on my journey. I got a lot of tips from Queen Alexandra, like, being on time. Sir JJ Maghirang (the local organizer) also told me that it's all in my mind and that it's just a short period of my life. It's only 10 days so I might as well be strong in mind and spirit," she stated. Shyrla will be pitted with other candidates from Belarus, Belgium, Benelux, Bhutan, India, Indonesia, Japan, Myanmar, Netherlands, Nigeria, Russia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, UAE, USA, and Zambia. Aileen Santiago of Cabanatuan City, who is first runner-up in Miss Supermodel Philippines 2023, will represent UAE in the global pageant after she was handpicked by the national director in that country. "My edge over the other contestants is my determination. I started my training last year and I am mentally focused," Shyrla revealed. The Caloocan beauty, who comes from a family of dentists, said that " when you say supermodel, you usually think of high fashion. But I don't come from the fashion industry. A supermodel is someone who inspires others to be a good person and uplift other people." The top executives of Miss Supermodel Philippines - JJ Maghirang III and his wife Mae Evelyn - expressed confidence that Shyrla has a "strong chance of winning because she is well-prepared. Furthermore, she has the discipline and professionalism to be the winner."
