Actors Gerald Anderson and Kylie Padilla are not immune to mental health issues. During a media conference for their movie "Unravel (Swiss Side Love Story)," produced by  Mavx Productions Inc. last March 29, Gerald, and Kylie opened up on their struggles and started a journey of connection with themselves and significant things in life. "Napakaganda ng Switzerland. Na-adopt ko rin yung culture nila na magbawas ng cellphone, lumabas kasama ang mga bata kasi ganun sila they are always outside. Sana in the future madala ko roon ang mga anak ko kasi its worth going to. Sobrang ganda," said Kylie. (Switzerland is very beautiful. I also adopted their culture to cut down on cellphones and go out with the children because that's how they are, they are always outside. I hope in the future I can take my children there because it's worth going to. It's so beautiful.) "I used to be like that. Tinatakasan ko siya, I go somewhere. Parang na realized ko na pagbalik ko, ganun pa rin. So I really had to go deep to try and heal where I am, kung saan ako ngayon. Saan man ako dalhin ng buhay ko, I'll be okay. Hindi ako aasa somewhere else." (I used to be like that. I run away from challenges, I go somewhere. It's like I realized that when I come back, it's still be the same. So I really had to go deep to try and heal where I am, where I am now. Wherever my life will take me, I'll be okay. I don't depend on anyone or anywhere anymore.)

Kylie got real on the power of going to therapy. "I did therapy and nakatulong naman siya. It helped." Gerald said he's a guy who doesn't run away from his problems. "Baka kasi pagsinabi ko mayabang ang dating pero kasi pagmalapit na ako mag-give up, hindi ko na pina-paabot doon. Hindi ko talaga hinahayaan umabot doon. (People might think I'm arrogant for saying this, but when I got close to giving up, I didn't let it get there. I didn't really let it get to that point.) "Kung may challenge man or problema, gusto ko tapusin na siya agad na hindi ako lumalayo at hindi ako maga-abroad. Kung ano man yunm gusto ko ng harapin at tapusin. (If there is a challenge or a problem, I want to finish it right away. I'm not going away and I won't be abroad. Whatever it is, I want to deal with it and finish it.)

"Kung mag-abroad man ako, mae-enjoy ko. Hindi talaga ako tatakas, That's the beauty of our movie because iba't ibang paraan kung paano harapin ang depression sa buhay. (Even if I go abroad, I will enjoy it. I won't really run away, That's the beauty of our movie because there are different ways to deal with depression in life.) "Ako yung tipo na kahit masakit kailangan harapin ko at tapusin. Minsan may mga problemang mataga pero kailangan kong harapin dahil doon nangyayari yung growth mo bilang isang tao," Gerald also said. (I'm the type that even if it hurts, I have to face it and finish it. Sometimes there are problems, but I have to face them because that's where your growth as a person happens.) Following the media screening of the film, moviegoers believe that it will spark a new discussion on mental health. "Swiss Side Love Story" tackles the controversial practice of voluntary assisted death. It is legally condoned in other countries, particularly Switzerland, as long as the person who wishes to die is of sound mind and is able to end their lives on their own.
"Unravel" follows Lucy (Padilla), a Filipina executive who is facing clinical depression amid reaping huge success in her field. The story unfolds as Lucy flies to Switzerland to get enlisted for voluntary assisted death. Her plans take a turn when she meets Noah (Anderson), a kababayan whose personal mission turns out to be encouraging people to choose to live. Their journey brings out not just the beauty of Switzerland, but also the beauty of life, which Noah hopes for Lucy to see. Directed by RC Delos Reyes, "Unravel" is an official entry to the first-ever summer edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival. It will run from April 8 to 18. The movie is also one of Mavx's three offerings marking ABS-CBN Star Magic's 30th anniversary, alongside "I Love Lizzy" and "Swing." Help is available to those who need it.
