PH Army’s 3rd Infantry Division sends 300 more soldiers to Negros Oriental

ILOILO CITY -- At least 300 additional soldiers were deployed by the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) to Negros Oriental province after the killing of governor Roel Degamo and eight others.

“We are more than willing to give our full support to the government’s effort to serve justice to all the victims and prevent the same incident from happening again,” said Brigadier General Marion Sison, commanding general of 3rd ID.

Over the weekend, troops were sent to the province to augment the existing forces under the newly-formed Special Joint Task Force Negros.

“The people’s safety is our top priority, hence, we are sending our troops to secure them while the case is ongoing,” said Sison.

“Rest assured that your Army will always be your protector and defend you at all cost,” added Sison.

The soldiers are from various brigades of Panay Island, Negros Island and even from Mindanao.

These are soldiers from the 11th Infantry Battalion, 15th Infantry Battalion, 47th Infantry Battalion, 62nd Infantry Battalion, 79th Infantry Battalion, and 94th Infantry Battalion.

The soldiers are helping units of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other AFP branches in conducting security operations and checkpoints.
