Parañaque 1st District Representative EdwinOlivarez announced that the local government will have a meeting with Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian to discuss the installation of the agency's satellite office in the city.
Olivarez made the announcement during the payout of financial
assistance to 200 beneficiaries under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis (AICS) program held at Old San Dionisio Gym, Barangay San Dionisio on Thursday, March 9.
He said that setting up a DSWD satellite office in the city will make availing of assistance and other services more convenient for Parañaqueños.
Residents who are in need of assistance from the DSWD will no longer visit the agency office in Legarda in Quiapo, Manila or in Batasan Hills in Quezon City, the congressman added.
Olivarez also distributed financial assistance to 41 residents who were victims of a fire on Jan. 15.
He added that his congressional office, located at the 2nd floor of the City Hall, also continues to distribute medical assistance through the Medical Assistance for Indigent Patients (MAIP) initiative of the Department of Health (DOH).
Five city residents who are confined at different hospitals in Metro Manila were given guarantee letters.
Olivarez said a recipient of the MAIP is confined in each of the following hospitals -- the Philippine Children Medical Center, Las Piñas General Hospital Satellite Trauma Center, Philippine Heart Center, Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center, and the Philippine General Hospital.
Residents who want to avail of financial, medical, burial and educational assistance and services being offered by “Serbisyong Pampubliko ni Kuya Edwin” are urged to visit his congressional office from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
