Agents of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) have arrested a total of 360 motorists for various offenses during a series of operations in the entire month of February.
Roque I. Verzosa III, director of the LTO-National Capital Region West, said most of the violators, a total of 213, were apprehended due to defective accessories, devices, equipment and parts while 99 others were issued tickets for failure to present OR/CR (Official Receipt/Certificate of Registration).
The LTO-NCR West covers the cities of Manila, Pasay, Makati, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Muntinlupa, and Las Pinas.
Of those apprehended, a total of 89 motorists were also issued tickets for failure to wear the prescribed seat belt device and five others for failure to require the front passenger to wear a seatbelt device.
On the other hand, another 41 motorists were also issued additional tickets for failure to wear the standard protective motorcycle helmet and nine others for failure to require the back rider to wear the standard protective motorcycle helmet.
Also, three others were apprehended in violation of Republic Act 10666, or driving a motorcycle with a child.
The rest were for various violation that include driving without license, obstruction and reckless driving.
“We will continuously make our presence felt on the road to ensure the safety of the public in our roads,” said Verzosa.
