License of driver in viral collision with 2 BOSS Ironman Challenge riders suspended
Remember the viral video of the collision between a vehicle and two motorcycle riders participating in the BOSS Ironman Motorcycle Challenge in Ilocos Sur?
The driver of the vehicle was already slapped with 90-day suspension on his driver’s license while the organizers of the event was ordered to submit a position paper to explain why it should not face administrative charges in violation of the Road Safety Rules and Standards.
In a statement, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) said it has already placed under alarm the vehicle that hit the motorcycles.
“The driver of the vehicle involved in the incident failed to appear in the hearing set by the IID today but will be given a chance to attend the next hearing so he can explain why he should not be charged with reckless driving in violation of Republic Act 4136,” the LTO statement read.
“The driver was also asked by the LTO why his license should not be revoked due to the incident,” it added.
Based on the investigation, the two motorcycle riders were injured as a result of the accident that happened in San Estteban last month.
A video of the incident went viral in the social media and revived the discussion on road safety.
The LTO, through its Intelligence and Investigation Division, it has already informed the BMW Owners Society of Saferiders (BOSS) to submit the position paper.
The BMW Owners Society of Saferiders (BOSS) is the organizer of the BOSS Ironman Motorcycle Challenge, according to the LTO.
