Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koshikawa Kazuhiko said Wednesday night that Tokyo already deployed its experts to help in the oil spill in the waters off Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.
“JCG (Japan Coast Guard) oil control experts are on the way,” Kazuhiko said in a Twitter post.
He added that in coordination with the Philippine government, Japan will send a Disaster Relief Expert Team on oil removal and control to support in the ongoing cleaning efforts in the province.
“We are one with you in these trying times,” he added.
At least 76 coastal barangays in nine towns in Oriental Mindoro were placed under state of calamity after an oil spill of MT Princess Empress, a tanker that sank, which also affected a score of marine protected areas.
