The Taguig City government announced that face-to-face classes at all levels in public and private schools will resume on March 8.
“The City Government of Taguig, in consultation with the Department of Education and other key stakeholders, has decided to resume in-person classes at all levels in all public and private schools in the city starting March 8, 2023,” the city government said on March 7.

It suspended in-person classes on March 6 and 7 due to the strike or “tigil pasada” launched by a transport group in protest of the government’s PUV modernization plan.
“The resumption of classes is prompted by the observation the past two days that public transportation has not been significantly affected by the ongoing jeepney strike partly due to the well-coordinated Libreng Sakay Program launched by the City Government in partnership with relevant government agencies including some transport groups,” according to the city government.
It observed “that there is a significant decline in online class attendance and lower participation in other alternative modes of learning on the second day of the strike.”
“Further, more than a majority of students and teachers reside within a short distance from their respective schools, and thus would be minimally affected by the strike. The City Government of Taguig reiterates that it understands the plight of the jeepney drivers and hopes that the government can find a judicious solution to the issue at hand,” it said.
