Laos, Czech envoys call on VP Duterte; seek stronger PH ties

The courtesy calls of Ambassadors Sonexay Vannaxay of Laos and Jana Šedivá of Czech Republic to Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte on Tuesday, March 7, showed their countries’ willingness to strengthen bilateral relations with the Philippines in the field of health and education.
The official shared photos on Facebook of the visits at the Office of the Vice President’s (OVP) central office in Mandaluyong City.
“Sa aming pag-uusap, napagkasunduan namin na mas palakasin pa ang diplomatikong relasyon sa pagitan ng Lao at Pilipinas bilang mga kasapi ng (In our talk, we agreed to strengthen the diplomatic relations between Laos and the Philippines as members of the) Association of South East Asian Nations,” the Vice President wrote about Vannaxay’s visit.
She shared that the envoy told her Laos has an “interest” in the country’s education and healthcare sectors.
Duterte told Vannaxay that the OVP is willing to help his country in giving recognition to local government units with “best health practices” from which Laos can learn from.

Meanwhile, Šedivá was Duterte’s second visitor today.
This year, she said, marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Czech Republic.
On this occasion, the envoy expressed her country’s support for education in the Philippines.
“Dagdag pa niya, nagbigay ang Czech Republic ng 20 computers para sa mga mag-aaral sa isang maliit na bayan sa Bohol (She even added that Czech Republic gave 20 computers to students in a small town in Bohol),” the Vice President wrote.
Duterte took the time to thanks the Czech Republic through its envoy for the support received by the Philippines.
