A landing craft tank and a motor tanker collided at a port in Amlan, Negros Oriental on Tuesday, March 7, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.
The PCG identified the involved vessels as LCT Bato Twin I and MT Petro Helen. The PCG has yet to confirm how many personnel were onboard the two vessels as of this writing.
According to an investigation by the PCG, the personnel of LCT Bato Twin I were maneuvering at the Port of Amlan when the landing craft tank was hit by strong wind and big waves.
As a result, the personnel of LCT Bato Twin I lost control of the vessel until it accidentally bumped into MT Petro Helen.
The collision damaged the port side railings of LCT Bato Twin I while the bow of MT Petro Helen sustained scratches.
“Walang nasaktan sa naturang aksidente at hindi ito nagdulot ng oil spill (Nobody got hurt in the accident and it did not cause an oil spill),” the PCG noted.
