Around 20 houses were gutted in a fire that broke out in Calamba St., Brgy. Talayan, Quezon City on Monday, March 6, the Bureau of Fire Protection said.
According to the BFP's initial report, the fire reached the first alarm at 12:23 p.m. and the second alarm at 12:38 p.m.
Firefighters said the burned houses were made of light materials, which made the blaze spread rapidly.
Firefighters declared the fire under control at 1:35 p.m.
The BFP said some of the affected families were informal settlers in the area.
The fire is still ongoing as of this writing.
