GENERAL SANTOS CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard has facilitated the repatriation of two Filipino fishermen from Indonesia.
The Coast Guard station in Davao Occidental said Indri Pawi, 52, and Germinio Pawi, 32, residents of Barangay Tinina, Sarangani, Davao Occidental, were rescued by the Indonesian Army while adrift in the sea of Maruri Island, Indonesia on Feb. 19.
The Pawis were fishing in the vicinity of Maruri Island when their boat developed engine trouble.
Indonesian Army personnel stationed in Maruri Island rescued and brought them to the border crossing office in Batuganding Island where they were turned over to Philippine Immigration authorities.
PCG personnel facilitated the documentation to repatriate the two fishermen who were escorted back to their residence in Barangay Tinina.
