Pope Francis names new archbishop for Archdiocese of Capiz
Pope Francis has appointed Diocese of Baguio Bishop Victor Bendico as the new archbishop of the Archdiocese of Capiz.
The 63-year-old Church leader, who currently serves as the bishop of the Baguio diocese, replaces Jose Cardinal Advincula who was named as the new archbishop of the Archdiocese of Manila in 2021.
Monsignor Cyril Villareal took charge of the Archdiocese of Capiz as its Apostolic
Administrator while awaiting Cardinal Advincula’s replacement.
Archbishop-elect Bendico was born on Jan. 22, 1960, and was ordained priest in April 1984 at the Archdiocese of Capiz.
Bishop Bendico also served as the Apostolic Administrator of San Fernando, La Union from 2017 to 2018.
