LTO issues show cause orders vs 2 drivers in fatal Makati, Caloocan accidents
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued on Thursday Show Cause Orders (SCOs) on two drivers who were involved in two fatal vehicular accidents in Makati and Caloocan cities.
Director Roque "Rox" I. Verzosa III, director of the LTO-National Capital Region West, said both drivers may face appropriate punishment, such as reckless driving and driving an unregistered motor vehicle, pursuant to RA 4136, or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code.
The accident in Makati City, which involved a truck and a motorcycle, resulted in the death of a 23-year-old female backrider.
The accident in Caloocan City, on the other hand, killed a 65-year-old tricycle driver and his passenger, a 50-year-old female teacher. The accidents involved a sports utility vehicle.
Verzosa reminded motorists to always be careful when driving on the roads to avoid accidents.
Last January, two similar but separate road crash incidents also occurred in Caloocan City and Manila City, which resulted in the deaths of two motorcycle riders.
The LTO-NCR West also served SCOs to the perpetrators and has issued resolutions in these cases. The drivers were found liable for an administrative violation of reckless driving and were fined P2,000.
Both drivers were declared improper persons to operate a motor vehicle. Consequently, their drivers’ licenses were revoked. These drivers are now perpetually disqualified from securing a driver’s license and driving a motor vehicle.
