Central Luzon cops to provide free rides during transport strike
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Patrol cars of police units will be on standby and will be dispatched to provide ‘libreng sakay’ (free rides) for commuters here who will be affected by the jeepney strike that starts Monday, March 6.
Police Regional Office 3 Director Brigadier General Jose S Hidalgo Jr made the assurance on the eve of the nationwide transport strike.
As of this writing, there were no reports that jeepney group/s in Central Luzon will join the tigil pasada, yet the police, according to BGen Hidalgo Jr, will be on standby should the situation require their services to help the commuters.
“All police units are ready to mobilize the patrol vehicles to augment the means of transportation to ferry commuters to their destination,” said BGen Hidalgo Jr.
“We have our command center to monitor the status of traffic in areas affected by the strike, if any,” added BGen. Hidalgo Jr.
