PSG confers new ranks to 98 promoted personnel

The Presidential Security Group (PSG) recognized the sacrifices of 98 newly promoted personnel at the donning of ranks ceremony in Malacañang this week. The ceremony, led by Group Commander BGen Ramon Zagala, was held at the PSG Clubhouse on March 2. In his congratulatory message, Zagala said the promotion of the 98 personnel was proof of their character and competence. "Being promoted to the next higher rank does not only carry the pride and honor of stepping up into the military career ladder, but it is also indicative of the personnel's competencies, commitment in the service, and most importantly, character," he said. "I expect that you will continue to pursue excellence as VIP protectors and in your respective tasks and duties," he added. Zagala even borrowed the famous line of Ben Parker from the "Spider-Man" movies: "With great power comes great responsibility." "The more rank you earn, the more responsibilities and the higher accountability you have," he said. "I trust that you level your performance commensurate to your hard-earned promotion," he added. The PSG chief hoped the newly promoted personnel would stay devoted and serve as an example to their peers. "I hope that you maintain your devotion to duty and continue to enhance your skills. Always set an example," Zagala said. "Deal respectfully and guide your juniors along the way towards personal and professional growth in the service," he added. In a statement, the PSG said 98 personnel were promoted this year, 12 of which were Philippine Army officers, 52 Philippine Army Enlisted, and 34 Philippine Air Force Enlisted. According to the PSG, the activity aimed to recognize the newly promoted personnel for their sacrifice in securing the people and the country and its primordial duty of protecting the President and his first family. "The activity also aims to emphasize the morale and welfare of the PSG Troopers to become more effective in their respective tasks," it said.
