Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon has suspended face-to-face classes in public elementary and high schools for two days next week due to the looming nationwide transport strike.
The Manibela transport group will hold a nationwide transport strike from March 6 to 12 to protest the government’s PUV Modernization Program.

On March 3, Biazon said that on March 6 and 7, asynchronous and synchronous classes will be implemented in all public elementary and high schools in Muntinlupa.
“Nasa discretion ng private schools kung ipapatupad nila ang face to face o online classes (Private schools have the discretion if they will implement face-to-face or online classes),” he said.
At the city-run Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa, synchronous and asynchronous classes will also be implemented.
Asynchronous learning, according to the Legal Education Board, is “a type of instructional delivery where the instructor and the students do not interact in real time. This may include self-guided learning modules, recorded video and audio content, posted lecture notes, online discussion boards, and similar methods.”
Synchronous learning is “a type of instructional delivery where the instructor and the students interact in real time usually through a virtual platform enabled by communication technology. This may include video conferencing, teleconferencing, live chatting, live-streaming and similar methods.”
The administration of the Colegio de Muntinlupa suspended classes on March 6 and 7 due to the period being an examination week.
Biazon said at community-based Early Childhood Education (ECED Muntinlupa) centers of the city government, classes will be normal next week.
“Patuloy na pag-aaralan ng pamunuan ang sitwasyon sa mga darating na araw kung magpapatuloy ang strike (We will continue to study the situation in the coming days if the strike will continue),” said Biazon.
