'DickTalk' stage play expounds on essence of manhood

Something exciting is coming next month as the trailblazing play "DickTalk"  is staged in Makati City's RCBC Theater. It discusses the taboo topic of human anatomy, specifically the male member. What makes it tick? How does it feel? Does it have a social relevance?

Consider 'DickTalk' as the male version of the "Vagina Monologues." Director Phil Noble said they hope that the play will open the eyes of the audience on what it takes to be a man and the demons they have to deal with.  Eboy Vinarao, CEO of the producing company V-Roll Media Ventures added: "This is a dream project of ours. When we were starting, we were just thinking of coming up with something that's out of the box. We'll  be talking about dicks, yes, but parts of the play are voices of each and every one of us. They are just a parallel of what's happening in real life."

Five characters with different perspectives and backgrounds will be played by the chosen actors: Gold Aceron as the teenager with raging hormones, Nil Nodalo as the transgender man, Jake Cuenca as a professional escort,  Mikoy Morales as the metrosexual nurse and Archi Adamos as an over-the-hill guy.

Award-winning Jake is obviously the most famous of the cast members. He revealed that he has no qualms about going "full Monty"  on the play date  if the audience reception calls for it.

"It depends on the audience. If I feel that they want it, the anticipation is there and it (nudity) is the cherry on top of a good performance, then yes, certainly I will go for it. I won't take it away from the audience," he said.

Jake added that he's happy to be back in the theater again. Not a lot of people know that  he studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in New York City.

"I want to showcase how I do theater. I am different on film and on TV. What I love about theater is that it's dangerous. You don't know what's going to happen when we're there. I'm in control and I can do whatever I want," he remarked.

Co-producing "DickTalk" with V-Roll is Trifecta Brand Lab. The concept creator is Edwin Vinarao while the writers are Benj Cruz Garcia and Ara Vicencio. The play will be staging  a limited run of only 10 shows from April 15 to 23.
