A total of 29 persons were arrested in a series of police operations on the second day of the Philippine National Police Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (PNP SACLEO) in Bulacan on Saturday, March 4.
The arrested suspects were composed of 21 wanted persons, seven drug personalities, and an Omnibus Election Code violator.
Based on a report sent to Col. Relly B. Arnedo, Bulacan police director, the arrested most wanted person was identified as Roger Merino, 64, farmer, of Brgy. Kalawakan, Doña Remedios Trinidad (DRT), Bulacan.
Police said Marino was nabbed by virtue of a warrant issued by the Family Court, Third Judicial Region, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan last Feb.13 for two counts of rape with no bail recommended.
The operation was conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Provincial Field Unit Bulacan together with DRT Municipal Police Station, Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), and Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU).
Meanwhile, 20 more persons wanted for various criminal offenses were arrested by tracker teams of Bulacan 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) and police stations of San Ildefonso, Meycauayan, SJDM, Guiguinto, Malolos, Hagonoy, San Rafael, Baliwag, Calumpit, and Sta. Maria.
All suspects are presently under the custody of the arresting police units and stations.
Meanwhile, seven drug personalities were apprehended in a series of anti-illegal drug operations carried out by the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of Pandi, San Miguel, Obando and Bulacan police.
Recovered from the suspects were eight sachets of suspected shabu and five sachets containing alleged dried marijuana leaves and the buy-bust money.
The arrested suspects and recovered items were brought to the Bulacan Provincial Forensic Unit (PFU) for appropriate examination.
Criminal complaints for violation of Republic Act of 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects, police said.
In a checkpoint in the City of San Jose Del Monte, a motorcycle rider identified as Arwin Belarmino was caught carrying a gun without a permit. He was immediately arrested for alleged violation of Republic Act 10591 in relation to the Omnibus Election Code.
Recovered from him was one Squires Bingham, a .38-caliber pistol, live ammunition, and a motorcycle.
