BOC reports whooping P63-B revenue, surpasses February collection target
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) said Thursday, March 2, that it has exceeded its collection target in February by accumulating a whooping P63.015 billion in revenue.
This is P1.188 billion higher compared to the P61.827 billion target they aimed for last month, and P3.583 billion greater compared to the P59.433 billion posted in February 2022, based on a BOC preliminary report.
“We will continue to innovate and implement sustainable reforms to boost the bureau’s collection efficiency which will contribute to the expansion and recovery of our national economy,” BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio said.
“For this to be possible, we will also prioritize fostering a healthier trade environment through enhanced and modernized mechanisms for efficient trade facilitation and improved Customs operations for all our stakeholders,” he noted.
As of Feb. 28, the BOC said it already garnered a total revenue of P133.380 billion, which is up by P8.641 billion from its target of P124.738 billion for the first two months of 2023.
Rubio vowed to adhere to the directives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to further boost revenue collection, enhance trade facilitation, and strengthen border protection while upholding good governance and curbing corruption within the bureau.
