Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez has requested the assistance of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in delivering water to areas that will be affected by the scheduled water service interruption from Mach 5 up to March 7.
In a letter sent to BFP Fire Marshall Eduardo Loon, Olivarez asked the BFP to use its water tanks and pumpers in supplying water to residents of the nine affected barangays.
He also called for the involvement of the city’s volunteer fire brigades and fire fighting units for an orderly and systematic deployment of manpower and resources.
The mayor said a team from the City Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) will be deployed to help in water rationing.
He said the affected villages are Barangays Merville, San Antonio, Marcelo Green, San Martin de Porres, Sun Valley, Don Bosco, Moonwalk , and BF Homes in District II; and Barangay San Isidro in District 1.
The mayor said the water service interruption will be implemented due to the repair of 2,200mm-diameter primary line along Osmena Highway corner Zobel Roxas St. in Makati.
“Tayo ang pinaka-apektadong lungsod sa gagawing leak repair ng Maynilad mula 3 p.m. sa March 5, araw ng Linggo, hanggang hatinggabi ng March 7, Martes. Kaya ngayon pa lamang ay mag-ipon na tayo ng tubig at maghanda,” (We are the most affected of the leak repair by the Maynilad from 3:00 p.m. of Sunday until midnight of March 7, Tuesday. We need to start storing enough water).” Olivarez said.
During the meeting, Olivarez said he was informed by Maynilad that stationary water tanks will be set up at Sinag Tala, Barangay BF Homes; Seacom in Barangay San Antonio; Landscape in Barangay Marcelo Green; Goodwil 3 Subdivision in Barangay San Antonio; Fourth Estate Subdivision in Barangay San Antonio; and Switzerland Dulo in Barangay Don Bosco.
He said aside from the stationary water tanks, Maynilad will also deploy roving water tanks.
A total of 114,000 customers will be affected by the water service interruption in Parañaque, Makati, Pasay, and Manila.
