Hazing suspect who surrendered to Gov. Remulla turned over to Biñan PNP
The Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) turned over the suspect who participated in burying alleged hazing victim John Matthew Salilig to Biñan City Police Station (CPS) on Thursday, March 2.
The suspect voluntarily appeared before the office of Cavite Gov. Jonvic C. Remulla, who coordinated the surrender with Cavite PPO Director Col. Christopher F. Olazo.
“Kasama raw siya sa naghatid, nag-bus daw siya mula Buendia, nag-bus sila papuntang Biñan, tapos kasama rin siya 'dun sa naglibing (He was one of the people who accompanied him, they took a bus from Buendia to Biñan, and he was also among those who buried the victim),” Remulla said in a media interview.
Remulla also mentioned that the suspect’s guilt and fear for his safety pushed him to approach the governor’s office.
“The person who surrenders to authorities sends a strong message that hazing will not be tolerated and that those responsible for such behavior will be held accountable for their actions,” Col. Olazo said in a statement.
Biñan City Police Station (CPS) earlier arrested six suspects allegedly involved in hazing that purportedly led to the death of Salilig.
Laguna PPO says the six suspects are facing two counts of violating the anti-hazing law.
