It seemed like Danny Ildefonso was not satisfied just watching from the sidelines.

In a surprising move, Converge activated the former league MVP to complete its 15-man roster, making way for Ildefonso’s return to the hard court after eight years of retirement.

Incidentally, the 46-year-old veteran can make his comeback on Friday, March 3 against the Meralco Bolts – the same team he last played for in 2015.

From there he transitioned to coaching with Alaska before he was kept an assistant when Converge took over the franchise first under Jeff Cariaso and then current head coach Aldin Ayo.

The veteran big man will remain as Ayo’s assistant despite being in the lineup.

Ildefonso carved out an illustrious 15-year career playing for San Miguel where he won two MVP honors in 2000 and 2001.
