Soil erosion kills one, injures two in Mt. Province construction site

BAUKO, Mt. Province -- A construction worker died while two others were injured in a soil erosion inside the construction site compound of Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital in Barangay Abatan, Bauko, Mountain Province on Wednesday, March 1. Joint personnel of Bauko Municipal Police Station, Bureau of Fire and 2nd platoon of 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company who immediately responded and conducted search and retrieval operation retrieved the victims identified as Mark Steve Nabor, Rodante Nabor Laluan and Rocky Bernes, all native of Pozorrubio, Pangasinan. The Bauko MPS said the victims were construction workers and were installing steel footing when the soil eroded and buried them around 11:30 in the morning. The victims were successfully retrieved and rescued at 12:05 in the afternoon. Reports said Laluan was pronounced dead-on-arrival by the attending physician, Dr. Aldrin Tusay, due to respiratory arrest caused by soil encasement. Nabor and Bernes are now in stable condition.
