Aumentado clarified that the provincial government is not spending a single centavo for his trip. The governor explained that the trip is upon the invitation of Israel Ambassador to the Philippines Ilan Fluss. The Philippine delegation that will be in Israel from Feb. 27 to March 4 will include some councilors from this city. “This trip is at no cost to the province. This is going to be a productive trip because we can learn a lot that we can apply in our province,” Aumentado told reporters in a press briefing two days before the trip. In his invitation to Aumentado, Fluss said the visit will showcase Israel’s technology and innovation on water, agriculture, health, airport management, and cybersecurity, among others. Fluss said the invite came after his official visit to Cebu last June 2022 in which a number of businessmen and government officials expressed their interest to know Israel's ways and best practices in developing its economy. "Not only will you gain first-hand experience of our technologies, but it will also allow you to see the opportunities for the Philippines, especially Cebu and the Visayas, in establishing stronger relations with potential investors," said Fluss. The Embassy of Israel and the Economic Mission will assist in setting up the relevant business meetings for the entire delegation. Science and technology in Israel are one of the country's most developed sectors. In 2019, Israel ranked fifth in the world's most innovative country by the Bloomberg Innovation Index. Aumentado said the opportunity to familiarize Israel’s technology would be of great help. The governor added he will seek more investments and invite more tourists to visit Bohol, which is one of the country’s top tourist destinations.
