The recipients were chosen through the assessment of the Local Finance Committee, Treasurer’s Office, Assessor’s Office, and the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO).

They were hailed for the fast and efficient payments of their due taxes, as well as their contributions in the private sector as partners of the local government in the pursuit of development.

“We want to let you know that you are very valuable to the City of Pasig, and we appreciate everything that you do, not just in paying taxes, but also generating jobs and other efforts to liven the economy of Pasig,” Sotto said during the event.

He then urged all taxpayers in Pasig to cooperate with the government in cleansing the city of corruption. He encouraged individuals and groups to report corrupt practices of civilians or other government officials, as well as inefficient systems, especially in transactions.

The mayor stressed the responsibility of all citizens to contribute in molding and strengthening a culture of good governance – pertaining to ease of doing business, anti-red tape, and anti-corruption – in the city.

Amid the rumors of an increase in taxes, Sotto also clarified that real property taxes and business taxes will not increase in Pasig.

“Sa Pasig, maaaring magtaas ang valuation pero yung assessment rates natin at ‘yung actual na real property tax na babayaran natin ay hindi po tataas in the short term hanggang medium-term (In Pasig, the valuation may increase but the assessment rates and the actual real property tax that we will pay will not increase in the short or medium-term),” he said.
