Baggao residents, peace-loving groups condemn CTG atrocities in rally
CAMP MELCHOR F DELA CRUZ, Upi, Gamu, Isabela -- Around 500 individuals belonging to different groups held a ‘peace’ rally in San Jose, Baggao, Cagayan on Friday, Feb. 25, and condemned the atrocities allegedly committed by New People’s Army and the Communists terrorists group.
The peaceful rally was joined by Abante-Sambayanan, Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo, Youth for Peace-Baggao Chapter, Barangay Officials, and the Local Government Units.
The rallyists marched from the Baggao municipal gymnasium to the town proper while holding placards denouncing the CTG’s atrocities.
The participants also burned the flag of the Communist Party of the Philippines-NPA-National Democratic Front and declared them as persona non-grata.
Baggao Mayor Leonardo Pattung and the residents signed the ‘Pahayag ng Pagkondena sa Komunistang Teroristang Grupo’ as a manifestation that the LGU will not support the CTG.
The marchers also condemned the presence of the communist terrorist town which had resulted in an armed encounter in Sta. Margarita, Baggao on Feb. 2 and Feb. 13.
