QC LGU, NHCP commemorate 37th anniversary of EDSA People Power Revolution

Quezon City local government and National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) officials gathered at EDSA Monument in Barangay Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City on Saturday, Feb. 25, to commemorate the 37th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.

"Pagkakaisa Tungo sa Kapayapaan at Pagbangon (Unity towards peace and recovery)" was the theme for this year's commemoration.

QC Mayor Joy Belmonte, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and NHCP representatives led the flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremonies.

The Spirit of EDSA Foundation (SOEF), church organizations, and other national and local government agencies also graced the event.

There were also performers who sang iconic songs during the EDSA revolution, including Handog ng Pilipino sa Mundo and Bayan Ko.

Meanwhile, labor organizations were allowed to hold a program at the EDSA Monument early Saturday morning.

"EDSA ng manggawa, hindi elitista (EDSA of workers, not of elitist)," the organizations' members chanted.

They said that it was the elites who benefited from the EDSA revolution, not the workers.

Many other organizations and groups organized programs and marched to commemorate the People Power Revolution.
