Marcos graces Cebu City BRT groundbreaking on Monday


CEBU CITY – President Ferdinand ‘’Bongbong’’ R. Marcos Jr. will grace the groundbreaking of the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system project at Fuerte Rotunda here on Monday, Feb. 27.

Police will enforce strict security measures and a major stretch of Osmeña Boulevard will be closed during the event.

Rerouting schemes will be implemented and motorists were advised to plan their trips ahead to avoid inconvenience.

The Cebu BRT was conceptualized more than 10 years ago and the groundbreaking will be for four-kilometer Phase 1 of the project stretching from the Cebu South Bus Terminal on N. Bacalso Ave. to Osmena Boulevard up to the Cebu provincial capitol building.

The project was estimated to cost $225.8 million committed by the World Bank and the French Development Agency.

Phase 1 of the project costing P1 billion was awarded to the China-based Hunan Road and Bridge Construction.

The complete Cebu BRT system will stretch around 13 kilometers from the Cebu South Road Properties up to the Cebu IT Park.
