Margielyn Didal Skatepark opens in Borongan on Feb. 25


TACLOBAN CITY – Olympian Margielyn Didal will inaugurate the newly built Margielyn Didal Skate Park at Baybay Beach at Surf City in Borongan City on Saturday, Feb. 25.

Didal and the National Skateboarding Team will conduct a free clinic for all skateboarders in Eastern Samar on Saturday.

The Margielyn Didal Skate Park is the first skate park in Samar Island and she contributed to its design.

Didal was declared an adopted citizen of Borongan City on Dec. 6, 2021 through Sangguniang Panlungsod Resolution No. 54 titled “Declaring Margielyn Didal as an Adopted Citizen of the City of Borongan.”

The resolution said, among others, that Didal, a renowned Filipino athlete, has competed in an international skateboarding competition, and brought home gold medals and honor as well.

The Cebuana skateboarder, it added, “captured the hearts of Filipinos and became an inspiration to young athletes; she exemplifies the essence of a Filipino athlete and is a role model to all young individuals in championing the values of a true Filipino citizen.”
