The Las Piñas City government kicked off the celebration of the 48th International Bamboo Organ Festival on Thursday Feb. 23.

The Las Piñas Public Information Office (PIO) said the festival will run until March 2.

The city government said it took eight years to finish the organ. It was built in 1816 by Fr. Diego Cera dela Virgen del Carmen who was also the first parish priest of the city.
The famous bamboo organ is located at St. Joseph Parish Church in Barangay Daniel Fajardo,  Las Piñas.Â
The bamboo organ performance will be conducted by church musician Eudenice Palaruan.
The festival also features an ensemble composed of local and foreign acts such as the Collegium Vocale Manila, the Manila Baroque Ensemble, soloists Raphael Leone (piccolo, Austria), Carolyn Kleiner-Cheng (harpsichord), and Armando Salarza (organ) that highlight baroque music from Europe and Latin America.
