BACOLOD CITY – Three persons, including a policeman, were wounded during a buy-bust operation against an unauthorized selling of firearms along Circumferential road in Barangay Taculing here on Friday, Feb. 24.
The wounded individuals were Police Corporal Rey Sivestre, a personnel of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Bacolod, and the two suspects identified as Michael Bintoroso, 44, of San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, and Alex Vilegas, 33, of Barangay Pahanocoy here.
Based on a report of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), the transaction was conducted inside a sports utility vehicle (SUV) owned by the CIDG.
However, a commotion ensued when the suspects allegedly noticed that they were transacting with a policeman.
They grappled with a firearm that resulted in a shooting incident, according to the police.
All three of them suffered injuries and were taken to a hospital.
Recovered from the crime scene were a .45 caliber pistol with two magazines, .9mm caliber pistol with three magazines, two cellular phones, and a motorcycle used by the suspects.
The CIDG has yet to provide more details about the incident. Investigation is ongoing.
