ZAMBOANGA CITY – Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. ordered the Police Regional Office-9 to intensify the fight against illegal drugs in the Zamboanga Peninsula (Region 9) during his command visit here on Thursday, Feb. 23.

Azurin vowed to cleanse the PNP of scalawags following the order of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. “It is our desire to finally cleanse our ranks from misdeeds and scalawags. Our internal cleansing will not only involve the patrolmen, but high-ranking police officers like colonels and generals,” Azurin said during the ‘’Talk to the Men’’ at the PRO-9 camp in Barangay Mercedes here. He commended third-level officers of the PRO-9 for submitting themselves to the assessment and evaluation being done in the PNP and assured them that it will be fair and thorough. Azurin underscored the importance of the ‘’Kasimbayanan’’ program which he described as the cornerstone of the PNP’s commitment to serving the Filipino people and keeping communities safe. He thanked PRO-9 officers and personnel for their dedication in ensuring the progress of the Kasimbayanan and the ‘’Malasakit + Kaayusan+ Kapayapaan=Kaunlaran’’ framework. A highlight of the command visit was the oath-taking of 120 Salaam volunteers and induction of officials of the values life coaches in line with the PNP Kasimbayanan. Azurin attributed the PNP’s accomplishments in the region to the sacred obligation of the police in serving the Filipino people.
