Azurin lauds PRO9 for anti-crime gains via PNP-community alliance
Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr., chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), lauded the Zamboanga Regional police force for its strategic law enforcement and peace and order approaches that include the partnership of Muslim and Christian communities in fighting criminal elements.
During his command visit at the Police Regional Office 9, Azurin facilitated the oath-taking of the new members of the Salaam Police Force multipliers, a group composed of hundreds of volunteers that help the local police forces in monitoring, crime reporting and preventing crime incidents in the region.
Azurin said such strategy is indeed working as manifested by the reduction of crime in the region, particularly in the campaign against terrorism, illegal drugs and reducing loose firearms.
“I am impressed by the significant reduction of crime incidents in the region, and I cannot stress enough how much we appreciate your dedication and commitment on this worthy cause,” said Azurin.
He said the strategy of pushing for police-community partnership in running after criminal elements and maintaining peace and order is the soul of the M+K+K=K (Malasakit + Kaayusan + Kapayapaan = Kaunlaran) program which he has been actively implementing since he assumed the top police post in August last year.
The project includes the partnership of the PNP, church and the community, through KASIMBAYANAN, in law enforcement and peace and order goals.
“These accomplishments show that our peace and security framework is not just a set of buzzwords, but a tangible roadmap towards progress and development for our nation. These accomplishments reflect your excellent teamwork, professionalism, and hard work,” he said.
In the same visit, Azurin led the inauguration and blessing of the new Zamboanga City Police Station 10 worth over P10 million with PRO9 director Brig. Gen. Neil Alinsañgan.
“The completion of this building signifies the PNP's commitment to continuously improve our facilities to ensure the safety and comfort of our personnel as they perform their duties to protect and serve the public,” said Azurin.
“We believe that by providing our personnel with adequate and safe working conditions, we can improve their productivity, morale, and well-being,” he added.
