GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Five municipal employees of Glan in Sarangani are expected to lose their jobs after they tested positive for illegal drugs use.
Glan Mayor Victor James Yap said the erring employees were found positive for shabu and will be subjected to summary dismissal proceedings once the confirmatory drug tests turn out positive.
Yap had earlier ordered the conduct of random drug test to all employees and officials of the municipal government in compliance with the directive of the Department of the Interior and Local Government to
establish a drug-free workplace in all local government units.
“The campaign against illegal drugs should start from internal cleansing within the government workplaces,” Yap said.
He stressed that government employees and officials should be the role model in the government’s campaign against illegal drugs.
Sarangani Gov. Ruel Pacquiao is closely coordinating with Sarangani police director Col. Nicomedes Olaivar to intensify the campaign against government officials and employees in the province involved in illegal drugs.
