2 NPA rebels surrender in Batangas, Quezon

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Two New People’s Army (NPA) rebels voluntarily surrendered in Quezon and Batangas on Tuesday, Feb. 21. The Police Regional Office 4-A identified the surrenderers as Lemuel Oriada, a resident of Lopez, Quezon, and Eddie Rodriguez, alias ‘’Habagat,’’ 61, of Sitio Aplaya Balibago, Lian, Batangas. Oriada is a cousin of Joseph delos Santos, alias ‘’Bingot,’’ leader of Platun Reymark of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee (STRPC) who was neutralized in an encounter in San Francisco, Quezon. Oriada turned over his M-16 Bushmaster rifle. Rodriguez surrendered in Camp Col. Jose Razon in Nasugbu, Batangas. He was an organizer in a community that formed a rebel mass base.
