ASG bandit killed, 2 soldiers wounded in Sulu


ZAMBOANGA CITY – An Abu Sayyaf Group fighter was killed while two soldiers were wounded in two encounters in Sulu on Monday, Feb. 20.

Major Gen. Ignatius Patrimonio, Joint Task Force Sulu commander, said government troops first engaged the ASG in Barangay Kabbon Takas, Patikul when the 111th Reconnaissance Division clashed with the group of Mudzrimar Sawadjaan alias ‘’Mundi.’’

The fleeing bandits ran into the 32nd Infantry Battalion, resulting in another firefight.

Operating troops recovered the body of ASG fighter Rhudymar Habib Jihiran alias ‘’Gulam.’’ His body was turned over to the PNP-SOCO for disposition.

Two soldiers were wounded in the firefight and brought to the Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista Station Hospital in Jolo, Sulu.

Lt. Gen. Roy Galido, Western Mindanao Command chief, said the military continues to intensify their operations against the Abu Sayyaf Group amid peaceful efforts to resolve conflicts in Sulu.
