This establishment is the newest lifestyle destination in Negros Oriental. It might be new but it came from a rich history. According to the property owner, Jaime Ponce de Leon, The Henry Resort Dumaguete is the former South Sea Resort that had been a landmark destination for the province for four decades. In 2016, de Leon through the help of Arnold Antonio and his cousin Terri Villegas, closed the deal of buying the property.
“I was looking at a potential and I was most aware of its historical value considering that every one of us has truly attended a wedding, a debut, graduation or whatever kind of party here, being this place as the place to be,” he said. “Perhaps, this is just a passing of the torch from the old to the new – an infusion of new blood to match the requirements and necessities of a new generation."
- The amenities
When it comes to amenities and aesthetics, this establishment is giving its guest the best of nature while in the heart of Dumaguete City. Interior designer Erica Paras who's known for his nature-inspired work combined with de Leon's vision created a tranquil place to stay-in for everyone.

The resort has 32 rooms spread across eight villas surrounded with plants. For outdoor activities and events, the resort has The Amorsolo Conservatory and The Fabian de la Rosa Lawn. They might not have their own beach front, but The Henry Resort has its own pool lounge and outdoor dive pool in the villa.
Inspired from the honesty store in Batanes, it also has its own boutique souvenir shop called The Honesty Henry by Subida, where you can buy locally made and sustainably-sourced products such as fashion jewelries, bags, and clothes.
For the art enthusiasts, de Leon's name might sound familiar because after all, he's the man behind the Leon Gallery in Makati. That is why, the Henry Resort also has Leon Gallery as part of its amenities where local heritage artworks are being kept and displayed for guests to see and visit.
