Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval announced on Saturday, Feb. 18, that 120 new businesses have been registered in the city since 2020.

"Amidst the threat of pandemic and inflation, I am happy to share that we are successful in promoting the local economy of Malabon by supporting local industries and MSMEs. We believe that businesses are the backbone of the Malabon economy," the mayor expressed.
Sandoval said that from 801 in 2020, the city now has a total of 921 businesses.
She stated that the city invested nearly 1.4 billion to hold expos and bazaars, which sought to help business owners in Malabon showcase their products and services to the public.
A business forum is also conducted annually for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to assist them in growing their businesses. It is open to local MSMEs, large corporations, and nonprofit organizations (NGOs).
Due to the pandemic, the mayor said that the city's first and second online business fora were conducted, where over 250 entrepreneurs learned about business courses.
She added that the Business One-Stop-Shop (BOSS) located in Robinsons Town Mall Malabon contributed to the success of many entrepreneurs because of its "faster and hassle-free processing."
BOSS, pursuant to Republic Act 11032 or Ease of Doing Business Act, upgraded its services by allowing business owners to submit requirements online for the application and renewal of business permits.
The local chief executive also announced the launch of a centralized communication system for business permit applications on Wednesday, Feb. 22, which aims for faster communication and feedback on their application updates.
"Some of the plans we have for Malabon include an extension of business permit renewal, providing financial assistance, and conducting business-oriented webinars and other activities to quickly and effectively deliver our services," she added.
