CHR Commissioner Dumarpa condemns Lanao Sur ambush where 4 persons died

Commissioner Faydah M. Dumarpa of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) has condemned the ambush last Feb. 17 in Maguing, Lanao del Sur where four persons died and two others injured.
"As a fellow Maranao and Mindanaoan, I condemn the ambush in Maguing, Lanao del Sur," Dumarpa said in a statement.
"Violence such as this does not achieve anything except to undermine our nation's quest for sustainable peace and stability, especially in Mindanao. I pray that the perpetrators will be swiftly brought to justice," she said.
Quoting police reports, the CHR said that the ambush targeted the convoy of Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong Jr. It said the convoy was traversing the road toward Wao town when unidentified gunmen attacked them.
Those who died in the ambush were identified as Juraij Adiong, Aga Sumandar, Jalil Cosain, and a certain Kobi.
Governor Adiong and his staff, Ali Macapado Tabao, were injured and rushed to the Bukidnon Provincial Hospital in Kalilangan for treatment. The governor was then transferred to a hospital in Cagayan de Oro City.
The governor’s younger brother, Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Adiong, has reported that his brother is now in stable condition, the CHR said.
