Cavite 4th district Rep. Elpidio Barzaga Jr. doesn't expect honest answers to come out of "Sibuyas Queen" Lilian Cruz'sc mouth.
"Personally, I would say that her statements and answers to us are not credible," Barzaga told the Manila Bulletin Wednesday, Feb. 15 when asked whether or not he thought Cruz was a trustworthy resource person.
"And the reason is very obvious. Because she is the one being alluded to as 'Onion Queen' and I do not expect honest answers from her since she is the one involved," the veteran congressman said.
The lawyer-solon was among the handful of House members who interpellated or asked questions to Cruz during Tuesday's House Committee on Agriculture and Food hearing on the alleged hoarding of agricultural products, specifically onions.
Cruz--a self-described agri-preneur--has become the central figure in the inquiry, which the House leadership pursued in order to shed light on the absurdly high prices of onions.
Cruz participated in an executive session during the committee hearing. A closed--door meeting, an executive session is held in order to allow the invited resource persons to provide more sensitive information to solons.
But based on Barzaga's remarks, the House members didn't get anything of much value from then so-called Onion Queen.
