Bulacan prov'l gov't inaugurates blood center, public health building


The Provincial Government of Bulacan inaugurated the new building of its Provincial Blood Center and Provincial Health Office - Public Health located at the Bulacan Medical Center Compound in the City of Malolos on Monday, Feb.13, 2023.

Being one of the provinces in Region 3 with a leading blood service and the only provincial-run blood center service facility, Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando said the new blood center that offers better service to the public has been upgraded with new equipment including couches for six donors, refrigerated centrifuge, two blood bank refrigerators, blood testing machine, and ultra-low plasma freezer.

The Bulacan governor also said that having a separate facility for blood donations will be a big help not only for Bulakenyos but for other patients who need assistance.

The new the Provincial Health Office – Public Health is located on the second floor of the building which includes a training room, logistics/stock room, malaria hub, and offices for the Health Education and Promotion Division, LGU Support Division, and Epidemiology and Surveillance Division.

A separate Cold Storage Room was built beside the new building which was funded by the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund to ensure the proper and safe storage of vaccines for children including Penta Vaccine, Bacille Calmette-Guerin, mumps, measles, and rubella, hepatitis B, Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine, Inactivated Poliovirus Vaccine, and Oral Polio Vaccine.

It also includes a 9,500 liters walk-in refrigerator and ultra-low freezer that can hold half a million supply of other vaccines such as Covid-19 vaccines including Sinovac and Pfizer, pneumonia vaccine, flu vaccine, and human papillomavirus.

The Provincial Blood Center is open 24 hours to cater to patients who need blood. Blood donors will be accommodated from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
