LAGUNA - Authorities arrested eight employees of Ramloid Corporation, a small-town lottery (STL) agent corporation, for allegedly stealing the pot money on Wednesday, Feb. 8.
The Laguna Police Provincial Office (PPO) identified the suspects as alias Jonathan, alias Rodmark, alias Albert, alias Ariel, and alias Mario, all from the corporation’s Santa Cruz branch.
The Santa Cruz Municipal Police Station (MPS) said the cashier, alias Jonathan, did not turn over the pot money amounting to P252,000 to winning bettors.
Instead, he allegedly divided it among himself and his four staff members. Authorities were able to recover P100,000 of the missing money.
In a separate incident, three other suspects, identified as alias Reynald, alias Paul, and alias Fritz, were arrested for the same charge in Ramloid Corporation’s Siniloan branch.
Siniloan MPS said an employee of the corporation filed a complaint against the three suspects for allegedly claiming the winning STL number and jackpot money worth P356,800.
All suspects are facing charges of qualified theft.
